Someone can say, “let’s go.” Someone could say, “it’s time to get moving.” Someone could say, “The game is on.” But if we don’t know where we’re going, it doesn’t matter if we start moving. The very first movement that needs to be made is making a plan.
Without a plan we don’t know where to go; without a roadmap we could be going the wrong direction. This is true in business and in life. We need to develop a plan that takes us in the direction we want to go. Inside of that plan is not simply a starting point and a destination, but checkpoints along the way that show us we are headed the right direction. It’s these checkpoints that allow us to know we are still moving along the path towards accomplishing the goals we desire.
As we build out our 12-week year, we need to determine what are the major stepping stones or checkpoints that tell us we are moving towards our goal?
What we need to do:
Determine where we are.
Determine where we’re going.
Determine what the checkpoints are.
Make the plan.
Making a plan is the first step when it’s time to get moving; then executing the plan is the next step. A great plan does us no good; take action to implement that plan.
